Hair loss normal in a 24yr. old female?

My hair has been falling out a lot. When I take a shower handfuls at a time come out. My mom says its that time of year, but this has been happening for almost a full year and it's just getting worse. I've been kinda freaking out about it for a while but now I'm getting pretty scared. I know you're all going to tell me to go to the doctor and I intend to, but in the mean time does anyone have any advice or idea what is causing this?Hair loss normal in a 24yr. old female?
I went through a stressfull time in my life when this happened. Tons came out in the shower, and tons more just by blow-drying it. When the stressful period was over (about 4 months) the hair started growing back, and I know this because my hairdresser noticed all the baby hairs all over my head.

Aer you losing hair from any other body part? Eyelashes, eyebrows, etc?

Make sure you're taking a multi-vitamin, getting a few minutes of sun exposure every day (it promotes vitamin D and hair growth) and do whatever you can to destress your life.Hair loss normal in a 24yr. old female?
PLease ensure that your hairs doesn't have dandruffs. This time of the year generally bring dry scalps and dandruff... Try Oiling regularly.

Best will be to oil your hair overnite before shampooing.

Also you can see a hair specialist and check some immediate cure.

Also check your diet and health.
see ur doctor as soon as possible!! You may have alopicia and that is what a friend of mine had and she didnt go soon enough and lost alot of hair!! But they have a shampoo that is absolutly wonderful and it helps ur hair grow and become strong again but u cant buy it over the counter good luck!!
it may be the brand of shampoo or the conditioner you are using. it maybe too harsh for you. try using baby shampoo instead. and also i would like to ask if you are using some kind of hormonal birth control because it also made my hair fall, because of the hormones.
Hair loss normal ? Unless u wanna be bald then no, its not normal.
I would check with the doctor. It could be stress or it could also be a hormonal imbalance. Sometimes, women lose their hair just like men do. Either way, you should consult your physician.
Are you stressed out about anything? Has your diet drastically changed at all? Those are the only things I can think of that can make your hair fall out.
No.

You already know the answer. Go to the doctor. Why haven't you gone already?
STRESS is main cause of hairfall

be COOL %26amp; CALM or do yoga for keep down ur stress

or take herbal oil / shampoo to control hairfall
well, my advice would be for you to go to the Doctor but you kinda ruined that for me now didnt you....thanks

well, the epidermis(skin) is the largest organ in the human body. the hair follicles coming out of it can be maladjusted due to a number of things.. so it's pretty normal and more than likely the Doc can help you out...
Hey, I don't blame you for being scared. I don't think it's normal for someone's hair to fall out. Until you go to the doctor, change shampoo. Some shampoos may weaken your hair roots, so try that first. Next, my teenage daughter complained of her hair falling out, especially after taking a shower. She phrased it like you did ... ';handfuls at a time';. She was having a ton of other bad symptoms, though, and ended up having an autoimmune disease, (which is where your cells attack your own body). You probably don't have that, but I'd definitely talk to a doctor. Don't take the first doctor's word for it if you don't feel that's the answer. We've had four doctors tell us four different things. Hope you find out soon!
No i dnt think its normal. .....
