I found a thread on another forum that describes what sounds like the exact same thing. According to them, it sounds like what you're seeing is her crop, and the loss of feathers is likely due to her mate plucking them. Someone even provided a photo of their female finch with the egg-looking bumps -- kind of creepy, but I guess it's ';normal.'; :P





If you're still concerned, of course, there's nothing wrong with taking her to a (avian) vet.
