What doctor do you see about female hair loss?

I have a family doctor but I'd rather not go to him if he is just going to refer me to someone else. What doctor do you see if you feel like you are losing more than the normal amount of hair? What doctor do you see about female hair loss?
The reaon why its good to go to ur family doc is because ur hair loss can be a result of a major health problem. He will probably want to have u go for bloodwork to determine hormone levels. Or he can just have a look at u and say okay u need ....

Hair loss can be caused by various health disorders, but a dermatologist may be able to satisfy u.What doctor do you see about female hair loss?
I looked it up and couldn't find a specific doctor--a specialist--for hair loss. My guess is that your family doctor will refer you to someone else (sorry) based on the totality of your symptoms. It may be that you have another problem that is causing the hair loss, such as hypothyroidism, so you would need to see a specialist in that area (endocrinologist for thyroid). I was losing quite a bit before I was diagnosed as hypothyroid. My generalist did some blood tests before he referred me to a specialist.
You're going to have to go to your family dr first to figure out WHY you're losing hair! If it's due to some underlying disease or condition, that has to be diagnosed first.
