What causes hair loss in woman?

my friend lost some hair - and has this bald patch, i am doing this on behalf of her...she has had blood tests and they have come back all clear - so thyroid diabetes etc is out of the picture...and she doesn't have a fungal infection which drs also checked - it has been a year and her hair still hasn't grown back...what do you think other causes are? we are going to see another dr for a second opinion (she is also trying this hair growth lotion that her dr gave her and it is not working)What causes hair loss in woman?
anyway hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few. but anyway you can always try and get real results.

year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also you should use some herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.provillus.com/?aid=749165

It restores hair follicles by blocking DHT!!!

good luck!

Try boiling dry pieces of indian gooseberry (embilica officialis) with coconut oil and using the mixture as hair oil. Lettuce juice is also a less-known but equally effective solution.

Stress and hormonal imbalance are the prominent causes of hair loss in women -- Try to relax and meditate. Ensure that your diet contains adequate vitamin B6 and that you eat whole grains, green leafy vegetables, eggs (rich in proteins) and oily fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids (great way to increase hair quality).

Also, massage your scalp vigorously as the resulting heat increases blood supply to the root hairs and stimulates the nerves. Lastly, take a good look at the shampoos and chemicals you use on your hair. Sometimes, these are the first culprits.What cure can you offer for premature hair loss in women?

I WAS SUFFERING BALDNESS....BUT YOU CAN FIGHT IT WITH YOUR DIET IF ITS NOT DEALING WITH GENETICS...EAT FOODS THAT ARE RICH IT VITAMINS A, VITAMINS B, VITAMINS C, AND OMEGA 3(TAKE FISH OIL PILLS) IT HELPS NURISH AND STIMULATE HAIR GROWTH.....OR YOU CAN TRY PREGNANCY VITAMINS WHICH ALWAYS HELP WITH HAIR GROWTH
If you have had a baby recently then this usuall happens cause your hormones are changing again. But the best answer is to try and take some stress out of your life. If this doesn't work then go to a salon and get the Nioxin line. Talk to a stylist and she what he/she recommends for your hair type.

Hello Cherick314,

I have a girlfriend that uses this product: http://www.new-hair-growth-now.com

It seems to really work for her. After about a month I noticed the difference in her hair. It looked fuller and even looked shinier; go figure.

They say that Hereditary hair loss, or Alopecia, (the scientific name for Female Pattern Baldness), is said to account for 95% of female hair loss.

This can help women in preventing thinning hair due to FPB, and support the re-growth of your natural hair.

I think you can try it for free for the first 2 months.

Take care ;)What is the best way to prevent further hair loss in women?
The fact is, many women lose their hair due elements often felt to be out of their control, like hormonal fluctuations, stress and anxiety, and genetic predisposition for female hair loss. There are ways you can bring these elements under control and regrow lost hair, as well as prevent future hair loss.

You can do scalp Massage. Get yourself a good, stimulating scalp massage oil. My favorite is a natural scalp oil by Jason's Naturals. It can be found in natural food stores, or you may be able to purchase it online. This scalp massage oil helps stimulate circulation of the scalp and remove dead skin and deposits that may get in the way of healthy hair growth and the health of the follicles which actually are the gateway to healthy growth and maintenance.

Rub coconut oil into your scalp nightly for just about 3 minutes each night. Use only organic shampoos/conditioners like Aubrey organics or Avalon organics...and Aloe vera is super for hair and scalp and prevents hair loss...:)

Oh, and never wash your hair w/ HOT water, use cold or as cool as possible, and for goodness sakes, make sure you have a filter on your showerhead, all that chlorine causes hair loss....:) Good luck
avoid shampoos with sls/sles or als in them as they are harsh on the hair and harmful to your health: among other toxic ingredients to look out for::

Until she started using this treament called PROVILLUS. And it works great!! I guess u can say she's back to normal now. Actually looks better than the eggs method! If you wanna check it out, here's the link...
This might sound disgusting: but wash your hair with eggs. Trust me it works... Also prenatal pills, if your pregnant or not its good for you! My sister is an pharmacist, says its good for all women. For hair!(it makes it thicker amd longer) nails, etc... you can buy it at walmart for like $4.. Also horse shampoo(helped allot of people who have hair problems)

Well good luck :)
Unfortunately there still not many options out there. hair loss is tough and the best way to find what works for you is seeing your doctor. there is a great product to conceal your hair loss but not prevent it.

  • Can stress contribute to a hair loss in women?

    I've noticed my hair come out more than usual... I even see some bald patches underneath the outer layer of my hair. I've been coming out of a major nervous breakdown. Could this be related? Will my hair grow back?Can stress contribute to a hair loss in women?
    Yes, stress can cause hair loss. Alopecia is the medical name for the baldness pattern you are having. Yes it can come back but there is also the chance it will not. My sister had this, she lost most of her hair on the right side and back of her head. It all came back in her natural color but it can come back in a different color or texture. She still has times when she will have bald spots but nothing like before. Research alopecia on webmd.com and speak with your physician about it. I wish you the best.Can stress contribute to a hair loss in women?
    Yes, stress can contribute to hair loss in women.

    The following are some reasons why hair follicles break their normal cycle and switch into a resting phase. These are the factors why some women experience thinning of hair and thicker hair on the other parts of their bodies. The causes include any or a combination of emotional and physical state such as stress, hormonal imbalance (especially androgen sensitivity), genetics.

    Some are caused by immune system irregularities including thyroid disorders, nutritional deficiencies (Iron and Vitamin A). Others may be due to cosmetic factors. Lastly, health conditions may contribute to the situation due to radiation or chemotherapy, dental treatment, blood loss, drugs, diseases, surgery and scarring.
    Yes in men as well. Go to your local health food store and get some folic acid and take 1mg per day. This should help with the hair loss. I used to work for a Rheumatologist and he prescribed it for his patients that had thinning hair due to their arthritis medications. Folic Acid is good for thinning hair.
    Yes hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

    What causes hair loss in women and how can it be controlled?

    I've heard some hair loss in women can be expected with age but are there any natural nutrients that can be used to help or aid in controlling the problem? Its kinda sad to see ones tresses go down the drain after shampooing.What causes hair loss in women and how can it be controlled?
    Biotin lots of biotin(found in the vitamin section). You'll notice results within 1 month even. Take it faithfully though. My hair is starting to fill in again. Try pre natal vitamins too. Stay away from the cheap shampoos that lather a lot, they will strip and weaken your hair.

    Biotin is famous for making hair stronger again. It really will help you. Be patient and you will see.What causes hair loss in women and how can it be controlled?
    Early prevention is important, and experimenting with shampoos during these early stages may provide invaluable help in reducing the rate of loss.For more information visit: http://www.provillus.com/?aid=623052

    I' ve heard that one of the reasons that causes hair loss is stress and some of the shampoos and hairgels and stuff. If you don't get the proper vitamins and nutrition, your hair may be the first thing to show it to the world. Hair is ultra-sensitive to good nutrition and vitamins, and there are actually several vitamins that can specifically can help your hair grow and look healthy
    While some hair fall daily is natural, stress, hairstyle products and lack of nutrition can cause excessive hair fall as listed at http://tinyurl.com/kshvn . By changing your lifestyle and using herbal remedies, you can reduce hair loss. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/py7z4 .
    i think wrong shampoo / stress / what u eat had something to do with your losing hair.
    the above answers are good. need to check for hormonal causes also, like hypothyroidism, but the main culprit is heredity. the clue for heredity is 'male pattern baldness' and runs in your family's females; it is treated with rogaine. stress, postpartum status, and low thyroid can do it. there are other hormone problems that can do it too. if it doesn't run in your family i would get checked by a doctor.

    shampoo/conditioner and hard water can do it to some people as dying hair and other treatments.
    It could be stess, diet. Excersise is good for relieving stress. Relaxation tapes. Check your diet, be sure your eating the right kinds of food. There is a natural supplement you can buy at Wal-mart. I forget what it is called but I believe it is clearly stated for hair. I heard if you eat jello it will help the growth of finger nails and hair.

    Check your head for bald spots. If you have round bald patches then you may have what is called alpesia. Go to your doctor they will give you a cream or shots in the scalp. (steroids) It is to stimulate hair growth. The cream didn't work for me but the shots did.

    I have noticed that when I don't eat right and I get stressed out I lose my hair. (extremely stressed out, not the normal every day stress.) (I get bald spots) My hair has always grown back. The first time I had the shots. The last two times I changed my eating habbits and tried relaxing a bit more.

    Like you said some hair loss is normal but not clumps of hair.

    Good luck to you
    sometimes stress can make ur hair fall, poor nutrition. try prenatal vitamins coz it has biotin. foods rich in protein like eggs, fish and soya products. drink lots of water. u can try olive oil, use it before bedtime and wash it in the morning. enough sleep.
